Unlike lies being told, which to a certain extent one can refute, with these imperial lies the situation is infinitely more complex since they are materialized in realities. Not the lies being told by people, every once in a while, but what I call imperial lies, those that are materialized in institutions: archives, museums, states captured by key political terms: citizenship, sovereignty, democracy embedded in practices: preservation, collection, study in qualities and dispositions: curiosity, connoisseurship, creativity and even in what seems so basic as the tenses: i.e., past, present, and future.
